چکیده

The objective of the research is to develop a new, simple, and environmentally friendly method for the simultaneous removal of heavy metals and total organic carbon (TOC) in coproduced water (CW) from the energy production industry. Ferrate anions (FeO4) or Fe(VI) oxidation ability is very strong over the whole pH scale. Fe(VI) has been considered one of the futuregeneration water quality improvement agents. The oxidation of CWs TOC into CO2 and H2O can be done via Fe(VI). The result of the reduction of Fe(VI) is Fe(III) which is an excellent adsorbent for removal of heavy metals in CWs. Once the heavy metals and TOC have been removed from the CWs it is much easier to then remove the total dissolved solid (TDS) from the CWs. Water supply around the world is becoming insufficient for the growing populations and sources for additional water supplies must be established. Treated CWs can potentially be used to partly mitigate the tight water supply dilemmas in states such as Wyoming.

Preparation of magnetic chitosan/Fe-Zr nanoparticles for the removal of heavy metals from aqueous solution

Copper and hexavalent chromium are heavy metals that are harmful to human health. Natural adsorbent chitosan, due to its considerable properties such as the presence of functional groups of –NH2 and -OH, non-toxicity, low cost, and biocompatibility, has gained much attention in pollutant removal. Therefore, in the present study, adsorption of chromium (VI) and copper (II) ions was conducted in ...

Adsorption of heavy metals (Cu, Mn, Fe and Ni) from surface water using Oreochromis niloticus scales

Surface water contains a large number of pollutants, particularly human pathogens, organic toxicants and heavy metals. Due to the toxic nature of heavy metals towards marine organisms, its removal from the environment has been a growing issue. The biosorption of heavy metal ions from surface water using fish scales has emerged as an environmentally friendly technique. This study assessed the de...

Adsorptive Removal of Cr(VI) and Cu(II) Ions from Water Solution using Graphene Oxide-Manganese Ferrite (GMF) Nanomaterials

Chromium (Cr) and copper (Cu) are heavy metals known for their dangerous effect towards human health and could enter into human body mainly through ingestion. Over the years, different treatment methods have been used to eliminate heavy metal from raw water source and these include (co)precipitation, coagulation/flocculation, adsorption and ion- exchange. Nonetheless, adsorption is the most pro...

Removal of As(V), Cr(VI) and Pb(II) from aqueous solution using surfactant-modified Sabzevar nanozeolite

The pollution of water environments is a challenging issue especially in developing countries. Contamination of drinking water with heavy metals has been reported in many parts of the world. Arsenic, chromium and lead are dangerous heavy metals and also common contaminants of drinking water. In this study, the capacity and performance of the surfactant-modified Sabzevar natural nanozeolite (SMS...
